Indiana Air National Guard unit deploys in support of the Global War on Terrorism

 
WHO:  122nd Fighter Wing members
WHAT:  Depart for Southwest Asia in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom
WHEN:  Tuesday, January 10, 2006 (approximately 2:30 a.m.)
WHERE:  122nd Fighter Wing Air National Guard Base
 
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Early Tuesday morning at approximately 2 a.m., members of the 122nd Fighter Wing will deploy overseas as a part of the wing's largest single deployment since the 1960_s.  This deployment is in support of ongoing operations in the U.S. Central Command Air Forces (CENTAF) area of responsibility, which includes Southwest Asia.  The unit will deploy fighter pilots, as well as maintenance and support personnel.
Military public affairs personnel will be onsite for media inquiries and coordination.  Media outlets interested in covering the departure should arrive not later than 2 a.m. to clear the security checkpoint.  It is recommended that media representatives call 1st Lt. Turpin prior to their arrival on base.
