Indiana National Guard Unit Change of Command Ceremony and Reception

INDIANAPOLIS – Maj. Gen. R. Martin Umbarger, Adjutant General for the State of Indiana would like to invite media to attend a change of command ceremony for the 53^rd Civil Support Team.

Maj. William F. Stroup will assume command of the 53^rd Civil Support Team from current commander, Maj. Paul Navas III. The ceremony will take place Thursday, May 31, 2 p.m. at Building 8, Stout Field, 2002 South Holt Road, Indianapolis, Ind. A reception will follow.

The 53^rd Civil Support Team is a unit of specially trained Soldiers, equipped and prepared to respond to threats of weapons of mass destruction.

The 53^rd Civil Support Team was recently a featured unit in the national level training exercise Ardent Sentry / Vigilant Guard, wherein the unit responded to a simulated improvised nuclear detonation.
