Indiana National Guard Unit Change of Command Ceremony and Reception

 

INDIANAPOLIS – Maj. Gen. R. Martin Umbarger, Adjutant General for the State of Indiana would like to invite media to attend a change of command ceremony for the 53rd Civil Support Team.

 

Maj. William F. Stroup will assume command of the 53rd Civil Support Team from current commander, Maj. Paul Navas III. The ceremony will take place Thursday, May 31, 2 p.m. at Building 8, Stout Field, 2002 South Holt Road, Indianapolis, Ind. A reception will follow.

 

The 53rd Civil Support Team is a unit of specially trained Soldiers, equipped and prepared to respond to threats of weapons of mass destruction.

 

The 53rd Civil Support Team was recently a featured unit in the national level training exercise Ardent Sentry / Vigilant Guard, wherein the unit responded to a simulated improvised nuclear detonation.
