An Indiana Army National Guard Soldier Killed in Iraq
INDIANAPOLIS Governor Mitch Daniels and the Adjutant General of Indiana, Maj. Gen. R. Martin Umbarger, regretfully report the death of a soldier from the Indiana National Guard who was killed while on deployment in Iraq.
Staff Sgt. Bradley D. King, 28, of Lafontaine, Ind., was killed yesterday as a result of injuries received from an improvised explosive device while conducting combat operations in Al Amiriyah, Iraq. Staff Sgt. King deployed as a member of Company A, 2nd Battalion, 152nd Infantry headquartered in Indianapolis, Ind., but had been reassigned from the battalion headquarters located in Marion, Ind.
I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Staff Sgt. King who lost his life in the service of his nation, said Umbarger. It is with true and personal sorrow that we acknowledge his sacrifice. Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones.
Gov. Mitch Daniels was deeply saddened to hear of the death of Staff Sgt. King. "It is difficult to receive word that one of Indiana's finest has given his life in defense of freedom. We all mourn the loss of such a young man." Out of respect for the family, all media inquiries and interviews should be directed to the Joint Forces Headquarters Public Affairs Office, Administrative Assistant Susan Hawver, 317-247-3222. |
